BOHEMIA CRYSTALEX TRADING a.s. would appear to be a rather young company, as it celebrates 10 years in business this year. It was founded in 1996, with an objective to break the previous foreign trade monopoly and to concentrate the export of founding companies in a preferably most effective way. The new company proved its vitality very soon, becoming stronger through active marketing, widening its net of distributors and acquiring new glass factories.
However, it is able to draw on an exceptionally long and uninterrupted tradition of glassmaking in the Bohemia region, dating back to the 11th century and this provides the company with a very solid base for the production of an outstanding quality of glass and lead crystal products in all of the company-owned glass factories throughout the Czech Republic. The world-renowned quality of Bohemian glass and lead crystal products is the reflection of the experience shared by generations of skilled craftsmen.
BOHEMIA CRYSTALEX TRADING a.s. joins factories originated in the epoch of unprecedented industrial development at the beginning of the 19th century, as well as those facilities, which were established during the expansion of automated glass production during the 1960s. Having united all of the glass facilities under one management, there was a massive investment made in an effort to provide modern technology in each plant and the investments continue, in an effort to stay abreast of the constantly changing trends in glassmaking. As a result, the company ranks among the leading glass manufacturing companies in the world. The rich tradition of glassmaking is closely associated with the world_acknowledged trademarks "Bohemia", "Bohemia Glass", "Bohemia Crystal", and "Simax". Another two ones supplement them, being intended for unique articles – the "Hand made Bohemia Heritage" brand represents the best of this tradition and the "Libera" brand follows the latest trends.
Due to its rich heritage, the company has the advantage of using both traditional hand production techniques, as well as automated technology and also the opportunity to combine them during the production process. The glass factories are capable of manufacturing a wide range of merchandise, which is suitable for both domestic and commercial use, including both lead and non_lead crystal items, as well as heat resistant products for use in kitchens. Beyond the household products, the company manufactures also laboratory glass, glass tubes and glass for industrial purposes.
Placing a strong emphasis on the design processing, BOHEMIA CRYSTALEX TRADING a.s. exploits the craftsmanship and high credit of the Czech industrial designers. In the year 2006, its drinking suite Vicenza, designed by Prof. arch. Jiri Pelcl, was honoured the National Design Prize and certificated as the Excellent Product of the Year. The Jury of the German competition FORM 2006 chose the Vicenza carafes to be exhibited during Tendence Frankfurt 2006, too. The company exports roughly 95% of its production to more than one hundred countries throughout the world. For centuries, Czech glass products have been exported to the Russian market and, from the very beginning of the company's existence, Russia has always been considered as an extremely important market for Bohemian glassware.
